BELLEVILLE, IL --(Marketwired - January 28, 2016) - Dr. Thomas Feder, a local dental implant dentist, is the president of a 12-member dental study group that meets several times a year to discuss new techniques in dentistry.
Each member of the General Practice Study Group is trained in all aspects of general dentistry. During each meeting, a member of the group gives a presentation and then holds a discussion about current challenges in dentistry and new treatment options.
"The group is a valuable resource for local dentists because we can coordinate with one another and get feedback about the latest techniques in dentistry," Dr. Feder said. "The club serves as a sounding board for each dentist and a forum to discuss our most difficult treatment cases and new dental technology."
The General Practice Study Group was established more than 50 years ago. Dr. Feder joined the club about 40 years ago, and his practice associate, Dr. Michael Smith, joined the club in 2013. Dr. Feder has been the group's president for the last several years.
While Dr. Feder has practiced dentistry for more than 40 years, he said the club still serves as a great resource for dentists to learn new techniques and share treatment plans. Each member of the group is encouraged to learn about another dentist's treatment philosophy and techniques and then implement new methods into their dental practice.
"No matter how long you've been involved in dentistry, there is always something you can learn. I gain most of my dental training from continuing education courses and study groups like this one," Dr. Feder said. "This study group is about finding the most up-to-date services so we can give our patients a high level of services."
Dr. Feder's Belleville dental practice, at 16 N. Jackson St., has seven dental chairs, digital X-rays and TVs in each room for patient comfort.
Dr. Feder has been in practice for more than 40 years, providing general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry. He was inspired to become a dentist by his father and great uncle, both of whom were Illinois dentists.
Dr. Feder's office offers cleanings, exams, fillings, teeth whitening, crowns, bridges, root canals, extractions, dentures and dental implant restorations. He uses a revolutionary tool called the Vibraject to give pain-free injections to patients. The Vibraject sends out vibrations to distract the brain from feeling pain in the area of the injection. The vibration also allows for the anesthesia to take effect quickly.
Dr. Feder graduated from the St. Louis University School of Dentistry in 1970. He served three years with the U.S. Public Health Service, two of which he was assigned to the U.S. Coast Guard. He has been in private practice since 1973. Dr. Feder earned his Fellowship recognition from the Academy of General Dentistry in 1982 and was voted one of America's Best Dentists in 2013 by the National Consumer Advisory Board.
Dr. Feder is committed to public service and spent 12 years on the Belle Valley School Board. To learn about Dr. Feder's Belleville family dentistry or the power of dental implants, visit his website at www.thomasjfeder.com or call 618-219-1412.
